10 MEN GFC SHOWS HIGH SPIRIT

It was a game against their old rivals Sicheng FC popular as ‘Dunde team’ amongst the GFC players. Within 10 minutes there were quite a few rough tackles from Sicheng FC players. The game started growing more aggressive. Basanta was fouled by Wang and after the whistle Wang pushed him to ground. Then Saad, GFC’s tallest and strongest player, came from the back and punched Wang on the face which sent him roll on the ground for about 5 times and that earned Saad a red card, and Wang a yellow.

Sicheng FC scored on 25th minute when a slippery ball rolled past Bikash due to rain. No. 10 from Sicheng got a goal. That didn’t stop some of the Sicheng players being more aggressive from the tackles and GFC players decided not to play. However, the request from the officials resumed the match with two of the Sicheng players replaced.

GFC got into tune in the second half with 70% ball possession. There were also good chances created but they just couldn’t find the net. Finally, a cross from Xiaohua found Basanta’s foot just before goal line at 88th minute and the game was equalized. It’s clear GFC doesn’t want to lose especially with their biggest rivals.

GFC DEMOLISHES SHAANXI TV CLUB

Played after three long months and in the absence of Ukesh and Deepak, GFC recruited some of the Chinese players in the squad. Under the captaincy of Bikash Gurung’s first game, the GFC proved to be superior to the Shaanxi tv club.
First goal was scored in the first half by Xiao Hui in the first half. Then there were three substitutions made. As usual Basanta found the net and he was again fouled inside the box. Bikash then stepped in to score from the penalty spot.
This was a real team game and everybody played at their best even after a long rest

NEW CAPTAIN, NEW MANAGER AND NEW RECRUITMENT

On 15th of July, Ukesh handed his captaincy to Bikash Gurung.
Ukesh said, “I had my share of good and bad times with GFC.
I have tried my best to help the team. It’s time to move on. So
I want to hand over this band to Bikash under who the whole
responsibility falls now onwards.” Bikash accepted the band
and thanked Ukesh for his leadership.
On return of our former manager Asmit of 2001, who is to
do masters in this university Rajesh also stepped back from
the post and asked Asmit to accept the post which Asmit
happily did.
The new era of GFC has begun with recruitment of
some of the Chinese players in the squad. However
manager says, “The priority will be given to the foreign
players unless and until the need to introduce the Chinese
 players become a must.”

SUBASH   HAILS   GFC

After observing a mind-blowing improvement of some of the players of GFC, Subash couldn’t help praising them. He sang heap of praises to defenders Santosh and Rajkumar. “In a year’s time, it is very surprising and happy moment for me to see them develop into such matured players. Santosh’s speed is unbelievable and his suiting has really startled me.” said Subash. He added, “Rajkumar started from zero a year ago, and now I believe he is a very reliable defender and I don’t mind calling him a hero. He has all that is needed for a defender. He is strong and has pace and is very good in the air. I think he will still develop into a better player.”He had a reserved praise for Akash who he believed had come off age and come to challenge a place against the veterans like Bikash and Ukesh .

DILIP SHINES, DEEPAK AGAIN  STRIKES

There was a slow start of the match by GFC. It started gaining the pace when last time hat-trick hero Deepak found a net in the 34th minute. The opponent from Shaanxi rarely threatened GFC. The coach was clearly unhappy with the team’s performance. However, took satisfaction from the victory of 4-2.
The second goal was again from Deepak when the keeper Chang made a silly mistake. There was a lot of fouls on the game with the temperature showing its cruelty on the players. Basanta on 55th minute got a solo goal from the left flank. Then Santosh’s hand ball provided Shaanxi a goal through penalty. On the last minute there was a goal from Dilip who was starving to record a goal in his account for the first time in the history of GFC. He substituted Basanta just to score the most memorable goal of his life in Sebastian’s cross. He said, “ This was like a dream come true. I have always played from the back. I wanted to experience how it felt to score a goal. And this is a special day for me. I thank the captain for allowing me to play there and my team mate Sebastian to provide such a wonderful pass. I loved it. That’s an ecstasy.”

Hat-trick Hero Deepak proves his worth

On a heavy rainy day, GFC had a match fixed against Guanzhou which was the day made for Deepak. He got his hat-trick for the first time in this season. He used to play as a winger and sometimes as a mid-fielder. Now, he has showed that his best position is up front. He said, “I love scoring goals. These goals are for my critics who say that I can’t score goals. I know there are other good strikers but if given the opportunity to play on my favorite place I will not upset anyone.”

The other strikers to score were Basanta (2001), Suryaman (2001) and Zhu ke. The final goal was a suicide in Akash’s cross. As usual despite many important players’ absence in the match due to exam, the other boys proved that GFC is a strong team and individual display doesn’t impress here .

2001 INSPIRES GFC TO VICTORY

Today very good players like Atma, Deoman, Suryaman, Basanta and Dilip started
the game. And as expected there were seven goals altogether. GFC conceded only a single goal as Atma stood in the heart of defence. There was rarely any threat in the
first half from the opponent ( Jiaotong club-from same university).  Goals started coming
from strikers Basanta and Deoman with assists from Bikash and Zhu ke and also Rajib
in the midfiled. Three goals from Basanta, three from Deoman and one from Akash was
too much for Jiaotong club.
In the second half a number of substitutions were made. All of the defence line was changed by the captain Ukesh in order to give chance to other players. So a goal was
conceded because of the misunderstanding among the defenders. However, Basanta
added a final goal in the final minute to make it 7. Thanks to all players from 2001.

NO PRIDE IN VICTORY”,  SAYS SEBASTIAN

GFC again won the game with 4:0. But their poor display in the first half led to
Sebastian’s frustration. Having asked about the game Sebastian said,” We won
the game. That might be all for some. But I saw we couldn’t produce a beautiful
game this morning. We have some very good players in the front but there was
absolutely no understanding, support in the first half. We have made our fans
down. Sometimes winning doesn’t make sense when you play below your
excellence. So there is no pride in victory.”
However GFC captain Ukesh thinks the other way. “We play our game to win.
Losing to any team makes me unhappy. I want my team to play beautiful game
as well but what can we do? We can’t play to our ability always because we have
other things to do not only play football. I am happy with the result.” says Ukesh.
Two goals from Basanta, one from Deoman, and one from Ukesh was more than
enough to win Xinxiolong.

MOST OF THE DOCTORS TO PLAY ON SATURDAY

The players from 2004 batch won’t be able to play on Saturday because of their
exam on Sunday. However, the GFC team has been boosted by the return of all time
favorites like Bania (Bob), Atma, and Sudan, all to play.  The manager is pretty happy to
see them and wants  the best of them on the pitch. These are all the players who are
to be doctors within a month.

BASANTA'S DOUBLE HAT-TRICK SINKS THE XINXIAO

With his speed and dribbling, Basanta proved once again that the defence
from Xinxiao were no match to him.His four first half goal and two in the second half,
two goals from Deomanand one from Sebastian were more than enough for GFC to
win the match. Two goals were conceded. Thanks to Wang Chun's solo goal which he
produced after dodging the GFC defence from the center. Another goal was from Xiepin.
Captain Ukesh says,"Still some players in our squad are late in the match and that's very
disappointing, sometimes that makes me very angry. Being in first 11 or not should
not be any excuse for the players. The best ones always get the opportunity and best
ones are the regular players." Next time one might expect a few changes in the squad
because of his remarks. However, victory was achieved and that is all it matters.

THE MANAGER RELISHES THE COMEBACK OF 2001

Six players from 2001 batch will be back in the GFC for around a
month whichwill only strenghen the team. Some very good players
like Basant, Atma, Kiran and so on will be of great benefit to the
young squad and will certainly learn from them. Manager Rajesh
says,"I can't wait to see them in the team. At the moment I can't
allow all of them directly into first 11 because there are some very
good talents here too who have emerged as great talents. Their
arrival will boost the morale of the GFC."

EASY VICTORY OVER THE FRENCH

With Basanta's hat-trick and goals from Deoman, Deepak Limbu and Bikash,
GFC scored seven goals and conceded onlytwo. Santosh was the heart of
defence assisted by Rajkumar. So, the French never seemed to threaten
the goalkeeperin the first half. Sebastian from Poland assisted Basanta to
score two goals. There were four goals in the first half. So, the manager
decided to change some players and gave chances to Rajiv, Gyanendra, Akash
and Ashim. They played well too.
In the second half, the French scored a goal within a minute to remain in
the game. After twenty minutes they again scored a second. So, we could see
their comeback. Then the coach decided to bring back one of the strikers back
to the squad, it was Basanta. He again scored a goal and the French never
seemed to heal. Bikash also added one. Deepak Limbu produced a fantastic
goal and it was seven. Manager was happy to see his team play such a fantastic
football in such a hot day. The temperature was 37 degree centegrade but the
enthusiasm of the GFC players was 100%.

 GYANENDRA BACK IN ACTION

Having been side-lined for more than a month, now he is in full fitness
and the manager allowed him to play for thirty minutes. There wasn't any
error from him. "He is very important to our team. He pulls the other players to
compete for each other because he can play anywhere on the field." says GFC
captain Ukesh.

RAJIV VOWS TO PROVE HIS WORTH

He was excluded out of the team with flu for three weeks. Now he is back
to training and is doing really well."I was always thinking about my fitness. Now, I've achieved it and I feel
much fresher. I hope the coach willinclude me in team this Saturday. I will show what I can do and let my game
do the talking.", says Rajiv from 2004.  This right winger has been missed by GFC surely in the recent matches.
He's got the outstanding skill of ball in the air.

AKASH IN FORM

Akash (sky) as the name goes his crosses used to be always high. But over
the recent days, he has worked hardwith his crossing and has started to give accurate and lovely crosses in the
training. However, he still has to prove on the field. With his speed and technique, every player in the squad
always expects a wonder from him in the game which he has been doing. The captain says,"I like playing beside
him. He is very active and knows whenand how to pass. He is very important to us and hopefully he stays fit and
gathers enough stamina to bring more pace to the game."

BIKASH BACK TO THE SQUAD

After the quick recovery from the sustained injury, Bikash has started training with the squad.
Coach Chura says, "He is one of our important players and we need him in team. I am hopeful
he will create chances for our strikers as always."
At the same time, GFC is currently running short of good goal-keeper. The manager warns
the repeated display as the last game will compel him to buy a new goal keeper.

MANAGER RAJESH EYES ON PAKISTANI GOAL-KEEPER

GFC has called a Pakistani keeper, Mansoor Ali. He is six feet tall and has a lot of energy. He has already impressed the GFC captain Ukesh and is looking forward to drawing the attention of the coach. If he joins the club, then GFC will have more options and the fight for the position will definitely make the keepers work hard. This is all the manager wants.

GFC APOLOGIZE TO CHENGDU

Chengdu is organizing a football tournament starting from May 2. There will be about six teams from different universities around China. GFC would have been happy to participate in the tournament but due to the exams nearing and May Games to be held in Xi'an already on final steps of preparation, they are unable to join the exciting tournament and apologize to the organizers. May the game be held successfully.

COACH HAPPY WITH RAJKUMAR

The most improved player Rajkumar has got the plaudits sing his praises for climbing the ladder of success. He was among the extra players two months back. But now he is a regular player. The coach says,"I'm just very happy and excited to see him improve this way. I wish him luck. There is no chance that I wouldn't include such an enthusiastic player like him."
He is the bone of the GFC defence.

GFC STARTS WELL 5:2 VICTORY ..........2006-4-22
With the combination of two strikers Deoman and Basanta, GFC were able to score 5 goals. However, a blunder )from the keeper got the team punished in the 30th minute. It was 3:0 and bikash was substituted by Deepak. Seconds later, the team conceded a goal. Again, after two minutes, Jianxi were awarded a penalty for a foul on Wang by Deepak Limbu. The striker no. 10 easily converted the opportunity into goal and Jianxi were back into the game. After half time, the GFC started to show its color. In the midfield Zhu ke dominated. The defence was also solid and the game was in total control of the GFC. Bikash was back in the game (allowed to come back into the game even after substitution as per the rule of the League) and scored a goal in Deoman's deflected shot. After ten minutes his assist led to another superb goal by Deepak. It was a team game with full of stamina, experience and joy. The first two goals were scored by Deoman and Basanta respectively in Churan's support.

CAPTAIN EXPRESSES HIS DELIGHT
GFC captain Ukesh said, "This is the way I always wanted to play. I am very happy with the
boys today. They have done a great job." He also says that we need to keep on rotating the players who couldn't play today because of the number of players we've got.

DEOMAN IS BACK
Deoman Limbu, a former striker of GFC is back in the team after a year long gap due to pre-internship in Nepal. He says, "I am very happy to be here(back). I'm in form nw and I'm going to score a lot of goals" Let's hope he does so.

INJURY BLOW FOR GYANENDRA
The right full-back Gyanendra Yadav is suffering from a broken ankle and sidelined for about a month. Manager Rajesh says that it is big disadvantage for the team and wishes him to recover as soon as possible.

BIKASH OUT FOR AN UNCERTAIN DURATION
Midfielder and playmaker Bikash Gurung is out for a lengthy spell of time. "Some allergies have appeared on his face and the he has to protect himself from the UV light. So, it's out of question for him to play football for at least a month." says Dr Wang. Bikash is feeling the worst not being able to play alongside Deoman after such a long period of time.

HARD TIME FOR GFC
With the chinese exam a day after the first match of the league, GFC players are going to have a tough time dealing with the exam and the match with not so long duration in between.
