Asmitananda Thakur

Student of the fortnight

Name:Asmitanada Thakur

Everything we have achieved today starts from a thought. The computer, big buildings, airplanes all started from a thought. Once they were just a thought. So to have a good thought is the most important thing for your journey towards betterment. Xianstudents.com asks you to start your journey by reading our Student of the Fortnight who is a loving brother to us, an intelligent student and above all a great thinker.…

1) How do you feel to be chosen as the student of the fortnight?

It is an honor to be chosen for the hot-seat.

2)What is life as a medical student?

Life at medical school is like a polygon. It entails hardwork, reorganization, sharing, perseverance, humor, imagination, commitment and faith. Basically, it’s the 3-D’s f life: dedication, devotion and discipline.

3) Who is your role model and why?

It’s Late Prof. T.R. Harrison for his indelible stamp on medical science and his authority internal medicine.

4) Your friends have chosen other universities to pursue further studies. But you have decided to continue here in XJTU. What is the reason behind this?

There are three basic reasons for my post-graduate continuation at XJTU:

  1. I graduated from XJTU and am well aware of the positive and negative aspects here.
  2. I conclude that positive aspects overshoot the negative ones.
  3. I passed the university P.G. Examination andwas conferred the university scholarship for my masters degree. You know, a master degree (in the field of my choice), on scholarship at XJTU, is like a Jack-flag to my profile.

5) How was your pre-internship in Nepal?

Honestly, it was great. It was then that I realized:
-Success is failure turned inside out
- And you can never tell how close you are
It may be near when it seems a-far
-So stick to the flight when hardest hit
Its when things get worse that you mustn’t quit.

Initially its tough due to clack of practical exposure and viva at our university but holding on to hard work pays and pays good.

6) Did you feel inferior to any student?

I never felt that way, but frequent sarcasm was there. It is then that you have to prove yourself by taking charge and taking control of our identity.
“The me I see……..

…..is the me I will be.”

7) Why did you decide to continue your masters degree without gaining further experience or doing internship in Nepal like most of your friends?

MBBS is the basic degree in medicine. We have 1000 MBBS graduates each year in Nepal. Super or sub specialities is the need. Timing is of essence and expertise followed by experience is the call.
Higher learning  is very important and with age this capability decreases. I think you are getting my point.

8) As a responsible and matured person, do you see any solution to Nepal’s Maoist problem?

We should never let a problem become an excuse. Decision making is easy if there are no contra-indications in our value system. The political will of our leaders (both from parties and maosit ) has to rise above the self-centered sysem. It is time, they understand people’s desire for a sound, healthy and developed Nepal

9) What role can doctors play to resolve this issue?

Doctors, are amond te most motivating intellectual community wihin a society.Their public relation has vast potential and its is expected that they do not surrender to fragile leardearship but become a part of noble leadership.

10) Any final words to anyone?

Firstly, I would like to thank you all for this privilege.

Don’t trust the clouds,
Trust the sunshine.
Don’t set your compass by
The flash of lighening
But set it by the stars.
Trust the sun- don’t trust the shadows.
Believe in your dreams, don’t believe
On your despairing thoughts.
Have faith in your faith,
And doubt your doubts.
Trust in your hopes,
Never trust in your hurts.

Finally,
Don’t kill your dream
Execute it.
